An obvious question, but it's really tricky to answer. It's like asking "how much does a car cost?".
First, smart devices give you a return on investment. You can look at the set up cost, but you should also consider the savings on power, reduced wear and tear, reduction of damage/theft/vandalism, and protection of furnishings from the sun, etc. Also, for new builds and renovations the cost of modern devices is not always greater than traditional ones.
